JAMESON EMPIRE DONE IN 60 SECONDS GLOBAL FINAL

The annual film-maker competition Done in 60 Seconds, which forms a cornerstone of the star-studded Jameson Empire Awards ceremony, will take place in London this Friday 25th March at the London Film Museum. To enter, budding directors were asked to remake their favourite movie of any genre into a mere minute of screen time. Film fans from all over the world had the opportunity to produce their own 60 second movie and upload it online where film-fans voted for a shortlist.

The Done in 60 Seconds Global Final night will see all 24 finalists screened and five final shortlisted entries announced, each winning themselves an invitation to attend the star-studded Jameson Empire Awards two days later, at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane – where the judging panel will announce the overall winner.

This year, entries came from as far afield as Kazakhstan, Turkey, Chile, Sweden and the Netherlands, as well as five entries from the UK. Movie choices were diverse and the 2011 list includes recent box-office successes like Oscar®-nominated The Social Network, Inception and 127 Hours as well as classics like Aliens, Jaws, Psycho, The Exorcist and Indiana Jones.

But to win, they will need to gain the seal of approval from the current leading Director in Hollywood – Academy Award-winning British Director of The King’s Speech, Tom Hooper, who is sitting on the judging panel for this year’s competition, alongside Empire Editor Mark Dinning, Actor and Comedian Chris O’Dowd and Writer and Director Neil Marshall.
