Horizontes: taller y encuentro cinematográfico iterante en Sonora

Horizontes is a cultural project aimed at young people interested in venturing into the audiovisual industry in Mexico. It also provides specialized and professional knowledge to forge a new generation of professionals through workshops, exhibitions and conferences given by outstanding personalities of the seventh art.

Cultural Jikau AC and Sula Films invite all men and women over 18 years of age to be part of “Horizontes: Taller y encuentro cinematográfico itinerante” , which will hold its second edition from November 20 to 24, 2018 in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora.

Students will enter disciplines such as screenwriting, direction and film production, as well as distribution, exhibition and new media. Meanwhile, the mentors responsible for guiding young people in this journey will be recognized filmmakers, such as:

Michael Rowe – Australian director and scriptwriter, nationalized Mexican, who has managed to distribute his films in more than 30 countries and which have been awarded internationally in the most important film festivals, including the Chamber of Gold in Cannes.

Edgar San Juan- Screenwriter and producer with extensive experience in the film industry. He has been the director of several successful short films such as “Una Bala”, which won Best Short Film at the Short Shorts Film Festival in Tokyo. As well as the winning feature film of Ariel, “Norteado”.

Alejandro Sugich – He has worked as a producer, director, scriptwriter and conceptual artist of VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality). Although initially dedicated to studying economics, Sugich found his true passion in filmmaking. With his films he has received three nominations to the Ariel, eight nominations to the Goddess of silver and three nominations in the Luminus Awards.

Tábata Vilar- General Director of the National Chamber of the Cinematographic Industry (Canacine). It has expertise in public policies implemented by the International Foundation for Iberoamerica of Administration and Public Policies (FIAPP) in Madrid, Spain, and has degree in Liberal Arts from the Lone Star College, Texas.

Juan Carlos Rulfo – Mexican documentary filmmaker graduated from the Metropolitan University, Xochimilco Unit (UAM-Xoch) and the Cinematographic Training Center (CCC). His documentary “En el hoyo” won the Best Documentary award at the Sundance Film Festival.

Fric Martinez- Creator of the methodology of “Startupism”, certified by INADEM; that serves as a guide to undertake in the new era. It has founded more than 10 companies successful and unsuccessful, as Ornakika recognized animation studio (2010) and Cliqa, application for Latinos in the United States recharge your cell phone sales (2015). The Fric Martinez network, integrates more than 40,000 creatives who get work among them.

Jimena Montemayor- Director graduated from the Cinematographic Training Center (CCC) of Mexico City. His debut feature “En la sangre” participated in the International Film Festival of Guanajuato and the Locarno Film Festival. His second film “Restos de Viento” awarded him the Mezcal Award for Best Mexican Film and Best Direction at the 33rd edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival.
